Disc Herniation
Disc Herniation occurs when one of the spinal discs, the cushions between your vertebrae gets damaged or slips out of its normal position. This can irritate nearby nerves, causing pain, numbness or weakness. It usually develops gradually due to wear and tear, poor posture, or sudden strain. Everyday activities such as bending, lifting or even sitting for long periods can become uncomfortable.
Disc herniation often progresses in stages. In the early stage, you may notice mild discomfort or tingling in your back or legs. During the middle stage, pain may intensify and movements like bending forward or lifting objects can feel restricted. In the later stage, pain might ease slightly, but weakness, numbness or limited mobility can continue until proper treatment restores spine health and function.

Before Your Appointment
If there are any specific instructions for your disc herniation treatment, our team will let you know before your visit. Most appointments require very little preparation.
First & Follow-Up Visits
Try to avoid coming on a completely empty or overly full stomach. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to your back for proper assessment and treatment.
Your first session usually lasts around 45–60 minutes. During this visit, the therapist will review your medical history, examine your spine, check for pain, numbness, or weakness, and explain your personalized treatment plan. If needed, they may recommend additional therapies such as gentle stretches, strengthening exercises, or posture guidance to support your recovery.
During follow-up visits, we encourage you to share how your back and legs are feeling, including any changes in pain, stiffness, or movement. Your feedback helps us adjust exercises and treatments to make sure your progress continues steadily.
Before you leave, we will assist you in scheduling your next appointment. You can book at the front desk or contact our Surrey clinic anytime for convenience.
After Your Appointment
After your session, you may feel your back is slightly looser or less tense. Many patients notice gradual improvement in pain, flexibility and overall movement over time.
It’s normal to experience mild soreness or fatigue as your muscles and nerves adjust to treatment. Applying a cold or warm compress for 10–15 minutes, as recommended by your therapist, can help ease temporary discomfort and make you feel more comfortable.
